What if I don't like the video after it's made? Can I request changes or revisions?

Here's the answer you need to hear: YES, ABSOLUTELY. When you work with Scene2, you're not locked into whatever I create and forced to accept it. Video production is a collaborative process from start to finish and your opinion is critically important to the success of your video. You'll have multiple opportunities to:

  • Provide input

  • Review the work in progress

  • Request changes before we call the project complete

I don't consider a video finished until you're genuinely thrilled with the result and confident it will achieve your business goals. My revision process is built into every project specifically to ensure your vision is realized and your investment pays off. You're not taking a blind leap of faith—you're partnering with someone who's committed to getting it right.

How the Revision Process Actually Works

Let me walk you through exactly when and how you'll be able to shape the final video:

Checkpoint 1: Script and Concept Approval (Before We Ever Film)

  • When it happens: During pre-production, before any cameras roll.

  • What you review: If we're working with a script, you'll see it in writing and have the chance to request changes, add talking points, or refine the messaging. If we're doing interviews or testimonials, we'll discuss the questions and approach beforehand.

  • Why this matters: This is your first line of control. We make sure we're aligned on the message and approach before we invest time and resources into filming. If something feels off, we adjust it now—not later.

  • Your involvement: Review the script or creative plan, provide feedback, and approve before we move forward.

Checkpoint 2: Check-In During Filming

  • When it happens: On the actual shoot day(s).

  • What you review: You'll be able to sit-in during interviews, view footage on a 17” monitor as we shoot, and review footage on-site.

  • Why this matters: The content we capture and create during production is critical to the success of the overall project. We might not get a second chance to get “the shot”, so it’s important that we get everything on the shot list.

  • Your involvement: If you can’t be present on the shoot, I recommend that you at least be available for a phone call in case I have any questions.

Checkpoint 3: Review the Preview Cut (First Look at the Edited Video)

  • When it happens: After I've edited the footage and assembled the video structure, but before final polish.

  • What you review: You'll see a near-complete version of your video—the story flow, the pacing, the key messages, and the overall look and feel. This version may not have final color grading, polished graphics, or perfect sound mixing yet, but it shows you exactly where we're headed.

  • Why this matters: This is your opportunity to request substantive changes. Want a different opening? Prefer a different interview soundbite? Think a section drags or needs more energy? Now's the time to tell me.

  • Your involvement: Watch the preview cut carefully and provide detailed feedback. I encourage you to share it with key stakeholders (your marketing team, business partner, etc.) to gather input before we finalize.

Checkpoint 4: Revision Round(s)

  • When it happens: After you've provided feedback on the preview cut.

  • What happens: I make the changes you've requested—whether that's re-editing sections, adjusting pacing, swapping out footage, tweaking graphics, or refining the messaging. Depending on the scope of changes, we may go through more than one round, but anything past the first round is usually minor.

  • Why this matters: Most projects are dialed in after one round of revisions, but I build in flexibility for more substantive adjustments if needed. My goal is to get you to a place where you say, "Yes, this is exactly what I wanted."

  • Your involvement: Review the revised version and confirm we're on track, or request additional refinements.

Checkpoint 5: Final Approval and Delivery

  • When it happens: After revisions are complete and you've signed off.

  • What you review: The fully polished, color-graded, sound-mixed final video in all requested formats.

  • Why this matters: This is your last chance to catch any tiny details before I deliver the master files. Once you approve, the video is locked and delivered in all the formats you need—ready to publish, share, and promote.

  • Your involvement: Give final approval, and I deliver your ready-to-use video!

What's Included in Revisions?

These are the changes you can typically request without incurring additional cost:

Edit Adjustments – Reordering sections, tightening pacing, changing interview soundbites
Messaging Tweaks – Adjusting on-screen text, graphics, or calls-to-action
Music Changes – Swapping background music if the tone doesn't feel right
Color and Visual Refinements – Adjusting the look and feel to match your brand

The 3 Simple Steps To Avoid Additional Costs:

🛑 1. Make sure you don’t have to re-shoot any content. Re-shoots can happen…

  • If, after the shoot, you decide to film new footage or scenes that were not part of the initial plan

  • If something of yours that we were supposed to shoot breaks down on-site or is not available during production, causing us to be unable to shoot it (e.g. machinery in a manufacturing plant)

  • If part of your on-camera talent cancels the day of the shoot and they have to reschedule

🛑 2. Make sure you don’t have any major scope changes – This can happen if you decide to add significant new elements that weren't part of the original plan (e.g. adding additional locations during the shoot, adding additional animations in post, etc)

🛑 3. Make sure everyone on your approval team has the opportunity to submit their revisions to your internal contact before submitting the requests to me – Most projects include 1–2 rounds of revisions; excessive rounds beyond that may incur additional editing fees

But here's the reality:
In 25 years of doing this, I have RARELY run into situations where clients need extensive re-work leading to additional costs. Why? Because we collaborate from the beginning, and I make sure we're aligned every step of the way.

Why You Can Trust This Process

Here's what sets my approach apart:

1. I Listen First

I don't just show up and shoot what I think looks good. I take time to understand your goals, your audience, and your vision. That means we're starting from a place of alignment, not guesswork.

2. I Communicate Constantly

You're never left in the dark wondering what's happening. I keep you updated throughout the process and make sure you know what to expect at every stage.

3. I Care About Your Success

This isn't just a transaction for me. I genuinely want your video to work for your business—to drive leads, build credibility, and help you grow. If you're not happy, I'm not happy. It's that simple.

4. I've Done This Hundreds of Times

With 25 years of experience and hundreds of projects under my belt, I know how to manage the creative process, anticipate concerns, and deliver results that exceed expectations. You're in expert hands.

Bottom Line: You're Protected

You will not be stuck with a video you don't like.

The revision process is built into every project specifically to give you control, input, and peace of mind. We work together until you're confident the video represents your brand, communicates your message, and achieves your goals.

This is a partnership, not a gamble.

And honestly? Most clients are blown away by the preview cut and only request minor tweaks. That's because we do the hard work upfront—clarifying your vision, planning strategically, and executing with precision.
